The 2025 Spring season was Sam Garza's first year as head coach of the Colt and Lady Colt golf programs, and with great success: the boys' team won the District crown, then finished third as a team in the NMAA's AAA Boys' Golf State Championships, with senior Mason Hicks earning the State Individual Champion title.

Coach Garza is also grounds manager of the NMMI Golf Course - no one knows course management as well as Garza does, and this wisdom helps his players shave precious strokes off of every round they play.
