On Saturday afternoon, New Mexico Military Institute defeated Tohatchi 6-3 at the NMMI Ballpark, completing the series sweep and earning a spot in the state quarterfinal on Thursday. With the win the Colts improve to 13-15 overall and post a four-game win streak. Tohatchi ends their season with a 17-6 mark.

After a scoreless first inning, the Colts ignited the scoreboard in the bottom of the second. Following a two-out error by the Tohatchi center fielder, Makihi Phillips delivered a clutch RBI double to left field. Brock Spear immediately followed with a hard-hit RBI single, staking NMMI to an early 2-0 lead.

The Colts continued to pressure the Cougars in the third and fourth innings. Grant Maloney sparked a rally with a booming triple in the third, later scoring on an N. Barcelo single. In the fourth, Konstantino Scopelitis added another triple to the Colts' tally, eventually scoring on a Phillips single. By the end of the fourth frame, NMMI had extended their cushion to 5-1.

Tohatchi struggled to find an answer for Rodolfo Anaya’s dominant performance, as he racked up double-digit strikeouts throughout the afternoon. However, the Cougars found life in the top of the sixth. Capitalizing on a pair of infield errors by NMMI, Amir Woodie and Titus Francisco both crossed the plate to trim the deficit to 5-3.

Despite the momentum shift, the Colts responded immediately in the bottom of the sixth. Scopelitis reached on an error and was driven home by Phillips, who collected his third RBI of the day to restore a three-run lead.

In the final frame, Anaya remained poised on the mound. After yielding a leadoff walk to W. Chee, he induced a strikeout and a line-out before Brock Spear threw out Woodie at first to clinch the win. While the Cougars showed late-game grit, the combination of NMMI’s aggressive base running—led by Spear's three stolen bases—and Tohatchi’s defensive struggles proved to be the difference.
