On Saturday afternoon New Mexico Military suffered a 56-21 loss against conference opponent Cisco College at the Wool Bowl. With the loss, the Broncos fall to 2-4 overall with a 1-3 mark in conference play. While Cisco College improves to 2-2 in conference play with a 3-2 overall record.
Q1
On the first drive of the game, the Broncos forced a quick punt but gave the ball back to Cisco College as Geramyah Porter muffed the punt to put the Wrangler offense back onto the field. In just four plays, Cisco moved the ball 48 yards as Cutter Stewart connected with Kadin Wright from seven yards out to give the visitors an early 7-0 lead.
The Broncos would answer with a touchdown drive of their own on their next possession. NMMI conducted an 11-play, 63-yard drive as Jake South completed a pair of passes on the drive before finding Samuel Monfre from nine yards out to knot the game at 7-7.
Cisco College would respond in five plays as Landon Vessel found Jaiden Burnett from 29 yards out, the Wranglers would go ahead 15-7 after a successful two-point attempt on the extra point. Cisco College ended the first quarter as they blocked a field goal attempt, and after a lengthy return, were set up in NMMI territory.
Q2
With great field position, the Wranglers opened the second quarter with a 3-play scoring drive as Cutter Stewart tallied his second passing touchdown of the afternoon with a 3-yard pass to Anthony Johnson to give the Wranglers a 22-7 advantage.
After back-to-back punts by the Broncos, Cisco grew their lead with a 25-yard passing touchdown from Landon Vessel to Keith Rockwell as the visitors enjoyed a 29-7 lead.
Late in the half, NMMI was able to cut into the deficit after Jake South connected with Geramyah Porter from 65 yards to record his second passing touchdown of the half and make it a 29-14 ball game. However, Cisco would answer with less than a minute in the half as Cutter Stewart found Anthony Johnson wide open from 65 yards out to take a 36-14 lead heading into halftime.
Q3
On the first play of the second half, Jake South fumbled the ball after a nice run to put the Cisco offense right back on the field. The Wranglers conducted a 9-play, 43-yard touchdown drive which was capped by an 8-yard touchdown pass from Cutter Stewart to Kadin Wright to give the visitors a comfortable 43-14 lead.
Later in the quarter, Cisco increased their advantage with a 38-yard rushing touchdown by Chris Abron as the Wranglers lead 49-14 with 5:46 remaining in the third quarter.
NMMI responded with an 8-play, 77-yard touchdown drive as Jake South connected with Geramyah Porter once again, this time, from 35 yards out to make a 49-21 ballgame.
Q4
NMMI was held scoreless in the final 15 minutes as they had four fourth quarter drives. On their first offensive drive of the final quarter, Cisco used a 15-yard passing touchdown from Landon Vessel to Isaiah King to make it a 56-21 score line.
Through the air Jake South went 14-for-32 for 201 yards with three touchdowns. Geramyah Porter tallied 118 yards on just four catches with a pair of receiving touchdowns. Samuel Monfre recorded a touchdown on six catches with 57 total yards. With 56 rushing yards, Jake South led the way on 13 carries.
On the defensive side, Tristan Davis tallied five total tackles to go along with a sack for a loss of six yards. Daylan Chichester led all Broncos with six total tackles.
