Grant named MVP, 10 Broncos named to all-conference team

The New Mexico Military Institute is set to travel to Fort Dodge, Iowa on Friday morning to compete in the Graphic Edge Bowl against Iowa Central.

Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. CDT Saturday at Dodger Stadium.

Ten Bronco football players were named to the all-conference team by the Southwest Junior College Football Conference.

Sophomore running back Anthony Grant earned Most Valuable Player honors in addition to first team offense.

Grant currently ranks as the fifth-best running back in all the NJCAA with 116 yards on eight carries. He averages 102.4 yards per game.

His 10 rushing touchdowns are tied for second-best in the nation. Grant is also No. 1 in all-purpose yards with 1,213.

The Bronco offense ranks third in the NJCAA in scoring with 338 points and fourth in points per game with 42.3.

NMMI is also ninth in total offense with 3,083 total yards. On the ground the Broncos are second with 2,014 yards.

The mark of 26 kick returns for 762 yards puts NMMI at the top of the nation's leaderboard.

The Bronco defense leads the nation with four touchdowns.
