GAME 2
The Broncos opened game four of the series on a different note. First Joek Rivera was hit by a pitch to get on base. Kylian Bamberger followed that up with a single, which put Rivera at third. In the fifth pitch of the at bat, Missael Maldonado Baez recorded a two-RBI triple to give the Broncos a quick 2-0 lead. After Seungmin Shin was walked, Javier Yepiz grounded out on a fielder's choice but helped give NMMI a 3-0 advantage. The Broncos scored the final run of the inning as Seungmin Shin stole home on a wild pitch.
In the top of the second frame Northeastern responded with a run to make it a 4-1 ballgame. In the home half of the inning the Broncos used an RBI-single by Joek Rivera to earn back a run before he later scored on a dropped third strike to give NMMI a 6-1 advantage. The visitors responded with a two-run third inning as they tailed by three runs, 6-3. In the top of the fifth inning, the Plainsmen scored a trio of runs to knot the game at 6-6 with the help of an error.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Ovier Alvidrez reached base on an error to get the six-run frame started for the Broncos. Joek Rivera picked up an RBI to give NMMI a 7-6 lead on a fielder's choice. After a single by Kylian Bamberger, Missael Maldonado Baez recorded an RBI-double to put NMMI ahead 8-6. The next three at-bats scored four runs for the Broncos as they enjoyed a six-run lead after four innings. In the bottom of the fifth NMMI added another run to make it a 13-6 ballgame.
The Plainsmen responded by scoring three runs in the final inning but it would not be enough to comeback as the Broncos secured game four of the series 13-9 to split the series with Northeastern Junior College.
Head coach Chris Cook of the series, "they had a lot of base runners on early in game one and it's disappointing I felt like we could've snuck away with that game, but they obviously did some things right, even when we were in the position to win, Cook said. "I enjoyed our pitching in game two, TJ pitched alright and when Parker Bauknecht got in, he threw well … Molina closed it out and got ahead of a couple batters and did what he had to," Cook said. "Overall, I like where we're at with a couple of simple things to work on during the week but nothing major," Cook said.
