On Saturday afternoon New Mexico Military Institute delivered a 10-1 win over Robertson High School at Stapp Field to conclude non-district play for the season. With the win, the Colts own a 6-5 overall record. With the loss, Robertson dips to an 0-7 record.

NMMI wasted no time getting on the scoreboard after Daniel Dosamantes Urbina got the scoring started with a left-footed finish in the first five minutes of the game to give the Colts a quick 1-0 advantage. The next 20 minutes was a great defensive spell by the Cardinals as they didn’t allow a goal after various attempts at goal.
Near the 30-minute mark, Luis Rodriguez Valencia extended the lead to 2-0 with a strike inside the box that blew past the keeper. Three minutes later, Patricio Carlon scored his first goal of the day to give the Colts a 3-0 lead. However, after a defensive error, Roberson was able to get the goal back to make it a 3-1 game to end the first half.

The second half was a different story for the NMMI attack. The Colts exploded for seven second-half goals.
First Ruben Meraz Valdez made it a 4-1 lead as he scored from the penalty spot. Just five minutes later, Damian Zepeda extended the lead with a goal inside the box to make it a 5-1 game near the 50-minute mark. After various opportunities, Wagner Ferreira Morato Cunha
Scored the sixth goal of the game around the 57-minute mark.
Ten minutes later, Ruben Meraz Valdez completed his brace with a goal assisted by Luis Rodriguez Valencia as the Colts enjoyed a 7-1 advantage. For the third consecutive game, Wagner Ferreira Morato Cunha would record a brace with a rocket from outside the box near the 66-minute mark. A minute later, Patricio Carlon also completed his brace as he scored off a corner.
Luis Rodriguez Valencia would score the tenth goal of the game with a cross that was deflected into the goal to give the Colts a 10-1 win as they held Robertson scoreless in the second half.

The Colts return to action on Tuesday, September 23, as they host Socorro High School at 4 p.m. Tuesday’s match at Stapp Field will be the district opener for NMMI.
